WHY I STARTED
It was 2011 my junior year of high school, and like any other teenage girl, prom was on my mind. I found the dress of my dreams and ordered it four months early. When the dress arrived, it was more beautiful than I ever imagined. I rushed to try it on, to find out it wouldn’t even zip past my thighs. My mom, trying to console me said, “Oh honey we have time, let’s just order a bigger size." I stood there and stared at the tag and thought, she’s right we have plenty of time. There was no way I was returning the dress. I was going to lose the weight that I knew I had been gaining and fit into that dress before prom.
I hung the dress up in my room so I wouldn't lose sight of my goals. Three months and about twenty-five pounds later, the dress not only fit but was too big!
The day I received my dress I also received one of the most valuable tools for my life, fitness. Something that I will be forever grateful for. I honestly have no idea where I would be without fitness today, but I do know I have no intention of ever letting it go.
WHERE MY PASSION COMES FROM
At a young age, I started to realize that I wasn't a "small girl." I had curves and was uncomfortable in my own skin. I was constantly judging and beating myself down. I soon started developing anxiety. I became caught in a toxic cycle of continual stress and worry, feeling completely alone. Anxiety was taking over my life with no sign of slowing down. It wasn't until I found fitness that my symptoms started to subside. I got so addicted to feeling good that fitness became a daily ritual. Once I realized what fitness could do for people, I wanted nothing more but to share it with the world. For me, fitness isn't just about aesthetics, it's more about the mental and physical health you can obtain. At this moment there are millions of people struggling with their own mental states. This is why I’m so deeply passionate about helping others through fitness. Being able to help others come out of these dark places and become the amazing, unstoppable, self-confident individuals they were always meant to be, is my definition of success. Fitness will always be a part of me, and I will continue to help as many as I can each and every day.
